Beyond Inequalities 1997 – Women in Namibia

This profile gives an analysis of the status of women in Namibia and is the first report of its kind which provides relevant qualitative and quantitative data on a wide range of topics pertaining to women which include politics and decision-making, economic empowerment, health, media, gender based violence among others. The main purpose of the document is to bring to the attention of policy makers the status of women in Namibia and the problems that women face such as poverty, illiteracy, inequality and oppression. The publication indicates that although women in Namibia are economically active, they most often lag behind men in terms of socio-economic advancement.
